Five Ways to Get the Most from Invisalign

If you’ve decided to take the plunge with Invisalign, congratulations! You are mere months away from enjoying a fabulous new smile.

In order to get the most from your teeth realignment programme and see results as quickly as possible, we recommend you closely follow the advice of your dentist. They’ll be able to help you get the most from your treatment.

1. Wear your aligners as much as possible

Sure, one of the benefits of Invisalign is that you can remove retainers to eat and drink, or for photos and special events. However, the less time you wear your aligners per day, the longer it will take for you to see results.

Dentists recommend that you wear your aligners for at least 22 hours a day.

2. Remember the 48 hour rule

Each time you receive a new aligner, commit to wearing it as much as possible for the first two days. During this time you really should only remove the retainer briefly to eat, drink or brush your teeth.

3. Improve your dental hygiene routine

It’s important to remember that an Invisalign aligner may hold food particles close to your teeth for longer. Make sure you take this into account and improve your tooth brushing and flossing routine.

4. Follow the rules to the letter

It really is important that you wear the correct aligner at the correct time. Make sure you switch to each new aligner exactly as instructed. Delaying a switch, perhaps during a holiday, may slow down your treatment time.

5. Wear your retainer after treatment

Once your Invisalign treatment is complete, your dentist will provide you with a retainer to wear in order to maintain the new position of your teeth. You will need to follow your dentist’s advice here; if you don’t your teeth may slip out of position again over time.
